Not to mention that mobility and activation is important for strength. A lot of lifters, athletes blah etc do both yoga and pilates to ensure proper range of movement and correct activation to prevent injuries. FLEXIBILITY & ACTIVATION IS IMPORTANT TO EVERY KIND OF FITNESS.
Also can I just point out being able to do the splits is a great feeling
But no one is stating that it will make you shredded. You and Your comment was highly irrelevant in that regard.
Flexibility is also a key testament to your health. The more flexible you are, the stronger your longevity, basically. That’s why here in the schools no one does your BMI or asks what your weight is or sees how much you can lift in gym class during health assessments, we do sit and reaches to test how much our flexibility strengthens from start to finish.
In addition, you need to realize that JUST body building is going to shorten your lifespan. You can have heaps of muscles and look “shredded” but that doesn’t mean your body knows what to do with those muscles or how to support them unless you’re also training your flexibility and lengthening those muscles continually alongside their growth.
So many people just focus on “getting shredded” and nothing else. I wouldn’t be able to count the amount of times that my friends/family who are personal trainers or in the medical field have been scoffed at by clients when they mention to them that their soul goal of body building may effect their health in a negative way.
